Lowe has promoted its creative director Samrat Dasgupta to the post of regional creative director to handle Unilever ice-cream business – Walls. In his new role, Dasgupta will be based out of Bangkok.
He will be reporting to Pablo Monzon, global creative director, Lowe, Madrid (LOLA). The global Unilever ice-cream business is handled out of Madrid. Speaking to Campaign India, Dasgupta said, "My role will be to head the creative on the brand 'Cornetto' for Asia and Eastern Europe. Though based out of Bangkok, I'll be travelling extensively to all these countries and will be working with various teams there. Cornetto, as you know, is already a popular youth brand because of its brand space of love and college romance. So it'll be like going back to my college days, just that this time my campus will be a bit scattered and multi-cultural."
Dasgupta started out as a copywriter with Euro RSCG, New Delhi, 1999. He then moved to Euro RSCG, Mumbai in 2002. He joined Lowe in 2003. He then joined Bates for a year and eventually came back to Lowe to handle Unilever Foods (Kissan Amaze) and Hair (Clinic Plus) across Asia. He is currently also handling the India leg of the Unilever Icecream Business (Kwality Walls) and Pepsodent.
