D&AD awards 2010 open for entries

The 2010 D&AD Awards are now open for entries. Jury members will be announced from early November. Organisers of the awards, meanwhile, have announced the line-up of foremen for 2010.

Foremen are leading creative specialists and their role requires them to ensure that the judging of the awards corresponds to the festival’s benchmark. Each of the foremen will lead a jury of creatives who will decide what work represents the best of the year and will be included in the D&AD Annual. They will, hence, decide what creative work sets new benchmarks and will, therefore, qualify for a D&AD Yellow Pencil.

“It’s always difficult to choose a Pencil.  It’s equally difficult choosing the Foremen.  But we’ve done it,’ said Paul Brazier, president, D&AD,  “These foremen are more than qualified to do this job.  They are specialists in their chosen field and will be tough enough to make sure that work gets judged with the utmost integrity.”

He added, “Sometimes it’s easy for judges to be conservative and not give an award.  It’s often braver to stick your neck out and reward something challenging, fresh or new.  These foremen are the very first steps to shaping the 2010 Awards.”

Eligible entries will be accepted until 27 January 2010. Work entered before 18 November will receive a 10% discount.  Judging is set to take place from 19 to 22 April in London.  The winners will be announced in June.
