It’s been business as usual for McCann, with work for brands like Coca Cola, Onida, Videocon, Dishtv (T.A.G), Nerolac Excel Total, Happydent and Neo Cricket among others.
However, it was a low profile year for McCann as far as awards went, which is quite uncharacteristic of this IPG agency. It won a Silver and a Bronze at Spikes Asia this year, a shortlist at Cannes Lions.
The agency relaunched Videocon this year, which amounted to significant business. Dishtv went to McCann’s T.A.G which it launched this year as its new agency. McCann’s new unit
MRM Worldwide won the Etisalat DB business. Part two of the Happydent campaign was launched in 2009, greeted with not with as much fanfare as its predecessor.
Overall, new business acquisition was aggressive this year. It also attracted talent, hiring over 30 people across offices, most of which was in creative.
Campaign Score: 8
How MCCANN WORLDGROUP rates itself: 9
Even in the year of economic slowdown, McCann Worldgroup continues to grow in double digits. Through the year we have won over 20 new business pitches with probably the best conversion rate across all agencies in India. Our client list has always been enviable, especially in India where there is a great mix of MNC blue chip companies and top Indian companies. We’ve consistently delivered great product, year after year and not seen any significant client losses in the recent past. We have a stable leadership in creative and across all our divisions. This year, MRM Worldwide and Healthcare divisions grew substantially. Further, its second agency offering has become a great success from its first year, which is rare, particularly in the current economic environment. Besides, McCann Worldgroup India is a breeding ground for talent that is increasingly being exported to the McCann Asia-Pacific system. Five top regional positions in McCann Healthcare, which has been adjudged the Best Specialized Agency in Asia-Pacific by Media magazine in 2008,
are currently manned by people exported from McCann Healthcare India.
