Colors ends STAR Plus’ eight year reign

Campaign India Team, 15 April, 2009

Mumbai

Viacom18’s general entertainment channel, Colors, ended STAR Plus’ eight year reign as  the No. 1 GEC.

Colors delivered 292 GRPs (TAM, HSM, CS 4+ week 15), 25 GRPs ahead of STAR Plus' 267. Colors’ performance, despite the channel having gone pay two weeks ago, must indeed be a concern for STAR Plus.

STAR Plus’ woes are compounded by the performance of Zee TV, which delivered 236 GRPs for the week under review.

“Finally their programming strategy is working well and bearing fruit. The GEC genre is now clearly a three player game, with the difference between Colors and STAR Plus being equal to the difference between STAR Plus and Zee. Overall, Colors' performance now makes the GEC space a consumer’s delight, as the consumer has better program options to choose from in this three horse race. One or two programs can change the pecking order in this segment,” says R. Gowthaman, leader, South Asia,  Mindshare.

Colors deresves it...

Colors ...Hats off..
I mean they have achieved so much of success in such a less span of time ...
Even few programs which they telecast are educating !!Some of them impart social message...
Star plus is a complete saas- bahu channel....
Colors is a channel for all generation!!!

Colors deserves the place....

Not surprised at all, i loved the channel, specially with
Balika Vadhu which has a good storyline but at the same time... they
also provide you with a moral to the story.
Colors has been consistent in providing good
programs...
i like the kind of change they brought in into
programming...
Programming brings in good mix of entertainment and being
away from the Star's Saas - Bahu serial is quite a fresh air...

WAY TO GO colours......

Colors and starplus

Colors is degrading Indian society by coming up with retrograde programs like Utaran. It is sick and seeks to exploit the inane insecurities amongst people. They may be winners but I would never want to see a program nor buy a product that advertises on such programs.
