OMD’s aggressive streak of confidence in 2008 has been evident with robust business growth in 2008. They have bagged new business, and managed an impressive client retention rate. The India office has been closely involved in some of Omnicom’s major global pitches that took place this year, including the $300 million Intel business which the agency won worldwide in April 2008. OMD also started offices in Delhi, Bangalore and Chennai this year. Key appointments at the agency this year have included MV Suresh, Andy Ruia and Sumita Das. The agency’s success is far more impressive given the fact that Omnicom launched the operations less than two years ago in the country. In 2008, the India operations was awarded an A grade by RECMA, a media industry benchmark. OMD, Asia Pacific won the Media agency of the Year award, awarded by Media magazine and the India office has been a key contributor to that
success.

The winning of Indian businesses in a competitive environment will bolster the international business that OMD has managed to win so far. Now that the agency completes two years, it’s time to get into battle.

Campaign Score: 8

How OMD rates itself: 9

In less than two years, OMD India has won 15+ pieces of business with $90MM+ in billings, including key accounts such as J&J, Intel and Apple. Our effectiveness is reflected by RECMA and R3, within the same timeframe, an assessment unrivalled in the Industry. Result: Surpassed expected growth by 110%+. In addition to our growth, OMD India has made significant industry contributions within the short 22 months of operations. Our ground breaking studies – Pathway and Livin La Vida Rapida – have been the first of their kind in India. But at OMD, we realize that this success could only have been realized through the empowerment of our people, making the agency what it is today. It is our retention rate, one of the highest in the industry, and a cohesive team that breathes the common mantra of Insights, Ideas, Results, that
cements our foundation for the aforementioned rating.
