B.A.G. Network has launched an e-paper ‘enewspaperofindia.com’. Billed as the ‘country’s first digital e-paper’, it was unveiled by cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, Union Information Technology Minister Kapil Sibal and Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari in New Delhi on Thursday.
The e-paper will have three editions each day - at 12.30 am, 1 pm and 7.30 pm.
Speaking at the launch, Anurradha Prasad, editor-in-chief of the paper, and chairperson, B.A.G. Network, said, “There was an urgent need for an e-newspaper in the country because 2013 marked the beginning of golden era for internet users in the country. The present 150 million internet users in the country are set to double to a whopping 300 million in just one year.”
She said that in the digital era, time is of essence. “Newspaper reading should not be akin to finding a needle in the haystack. E Newspaper of India will ensure that it brings you only those news items that are of big importance. We value your time. Therefore, we don’t want you to read news that is of little consequence. E newspaper of India sifts the big news from a mountain of news stories,” she added.
Kapil Sibal stated, “Digital is the future. In the coming time people will choose digital over print. Hence this initiative will be welcomed in the country.”
enewspaperofIndia.com quoted Manish Tewari as saying, “Unlike the web and the television, an e-newspaper provides you with some depth.”
