Juries announced for Dubai Lynx 2011

Divided into four juries, a total of 28 jury members will judge a total of 12 entry categories.

The fourth Dubai International Advertising Festival has announced the names that will make up the 2011 juries. Indians on the jury include Prasoon Joshi, executive chairman and regional executive creative director APAC, McCann Erickson Worldgroup as , India, Gowthaman Ragothaman, leader – South Asia, Mindshare, India and Bhupal Ramnathkar, founder and chairman, Umbrella Design, India.

“We are seeing some exceptional work coming out of the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region at the moment, making it essential to have a world class team of global judges on board. This is a very strong line-up and we know that together they will judge the work using their knowledge, understanding and passion,” said Steve Lane, festival director.

Divided into four juries and led by their jury president, a total of 28 jury members will come together in Dubai, where they will view the entries, deliberate and award the most outstanding work that the region has to offer. Jury members will judge a total of 12 entry categories: Design, Direct, Promo & Activation, Interactive, Media, Film, Print, Outdoor, Radio, Integrated, Print & Outdoor Craft and Film Craft.

The juries for Film, Print, Outdoor, Radio and Craft entry categories will be led by jury president Joshi. Jury members include Richard Brim, creative director, Leo Burnett, UK, Valérie Chidlovsky, senior copywriter, BETC Euro RSCG, France, Bridget Johnson, creative director, Ogilvy, South Africa, Simon Langley, executive creative director, 303 Sydney, Australia, Scott Lewis, executive creative director, JWT, USA and Eric Schoeffler, chief creative officer, Tribal DDB, Germany.

The Direct, Promo & Activation and Interactive jury is led by Armin Jochum, chief creative officer, Jung von Matt, Germany as Jury President. Ben Callis, creative director, SapientNitro, UK, Dagan Cohen, executive creative director, Draftfcb, The Netherlands, Ghislain de Villoutreys, executive creative director, JWT, France, Connie Lo, executive creative director, Leo Burnett, Hong Kong, Damian Royce, creative director, Clemenger BBDO, Australia and Pipo Virgós, creative director, Shackleton, Spain are the other members on the jury.  

Mike Cooper, Worldwide CEO, PHD, Global has been appointed as the jury president for Media. Eric Bader, chief strategy officer, Initiative, USA, Kristian Barnes, group managing director, MPG/MediaContacts, Australia, Davy Caluwaerts, creative communications director, Zenith Optimedia, Belgium, Gowthaman Ragothaman, leader – South Asia, Mindshare, India, Amanda Koutra, managing director, Carat, Sweden and Jochen Lenhard, managing director, Mediaplus, Germany are the other jury members in the category.  

For the Design Jury, Rodney Fitch, founder of fitch, Rodney Fitch Ltd., UK is the jury president. Others in the jury include Henrique Cayatte, designer & teacher, Henrique Cayatte Design, Portugal, Francis Gosset, strategic planning director, Malherbe Design, France, Richard Hart, design director, Disturbance Design, South Africa, Claudia Neri, design director/president, Teikna Design, Italy, Barbro Ohlson Smith, creative director, Ohlsonsmith, Sweden and Bhupal Ramnathkar, founder & chairman, Umbrella Design, India. 

The Integrated Jury is made up of members from other juries, including all the jury presidents. Joshi is the jury president for the entry category and other members on the jury are Armin Jochum (Jung von Matt, Germany), Mike Cooper, (PHD, Global), Rodney Fitch, (Rodney Fitch Ltd., UK), Simon Langley, (303 Sydney, Australia), Bridget Johnson, (Ogilvy, South Africa) and Scott Lewis (JWT, USA). 

Entries for the awards are now being accepted across all categories. The 2011 winners will be revealed at the Dubai Lynx Awards Ceremony taking place on March 30 at the Madinat Arena, Dubai.
