Grey India has appointed Rohit Malkani as executive creative director for its Mumbai office. In his new role, he will head the creative function of the Mumbai office. He will partner with Mangesh Someshwar, senior creative director and will report to Shalini Dam, national creative director, Grey India.
Malkani comes from Bates 141 where he was working as creative director and heading the Virgin Mobile business. He has about 14 years of experience in advertising. He started his career in account planning at Rediffusion Y&R. He then shifted to the creative side of the business and worked in agencies such as JWT, Ambience Publicis and Bates. He has worked on brands such as Taj Mahal, Van Heusen, Vicks Action 500, Hair & Care, Silk n Shine, Parachute After Shower, Parachute Therapie, Revive Starch and Bisleri.
Malkani is a TV, theatre personality and a stand-up comedian. He has featured in several commercials including Tom Chi, Mc Donalds, Naukri.com, Shaadi.com and Pizza Hut.
Speaking to Campaign India, Malkani commented on his new role, “Grey had no creative head since the last six months. In my new role, I will be working on all the brands handled by the agency. This place has a fantastic reputation. In terms of infrastructure, it has some good brands. I joined this place because of the new energy, new spirit and the fact that it has something different to offer.”
